“Harbourfront is One and All”
[Christmas Railway Journey by The Harbour] Pop-Up Installations and Events (2023)

Inheriting the concept of "Harbourfront is One and All", the Development Bureau and the Harbourfront Commission have put up a series of pop-up Christmas installations to provide the public with a unique and magical journey this Christmas by connecting the seven different harbourfront venues under the theme of "Christmas Railway Journey by the Harbour". The seven harbourfront venues include the “HarbourChill” and the “Water Sports and Recreation Precinct” in Wan Chai, the “Belcher Bay Promenade” in Kennedy Town, the “Revitalised Typhoon Shelter Precinct” in Causeway Bay, the “East Coast Park Precinct” in North Point, the “Tsuen Wan Promenade”, as well as the “Cha Kwo Ling Promenade”. Each harbourfront venue features distinctive Christmas decorations and they are now opened to the public with lights on from 5 pm to 11 pm. Lighting hours will be extended to 1 am between 22 December 2023 and 1 January 2024 for some of the venues, for the public to better enjoy the holiday season.

HarbourChill, Wan Chai – Wonderful Harbourfront Christmas Party


Placed at the center of the Christmas installations is an 8-meter-high bonfire-themed Christmas tree that lights up the night and fills with Christmas vibes. The bonfire-themed Christmas tree is the epitome of warmth, hope, and brightness. The public can get together with their friends and families to share festive cheers and love. Timbers have been used for the Christmas decorations, creating a joyful atmosphere of the bonfire party.

Location: HarbourChill is situated at the north of Hung Hing Road and east of the covered walkway of Wan Chai Ferry Pier

Water Sports and Recreation Precinct, Wan Chai - Christmas Harbourfront Central Station

Two retired Mid-Life Refurbishment train cars of the East Rail Line, commonly known as ‘Fly Head’ trains, are relocated to the Water Sports and Recreation Precinct in Wan Chai and are now on public display. To celebrate Christmas and mark the first exhibit of the "Fly Head" trains at the harbourfront, the on-site Christmas decorations this year revolve around the theme of “Central Station”. A 13-meter-high Christmas tree is erected at the station, together with the rotating gears and lighting effects making the harbourfront a glamorous “Harbourfront Central Station”. Passing through a tunnel adorned with glittering lights, visitors can reach the decorated “Fly Head” compartments and experience a magical Christmas journey.

Location: Water Sports and Recreation Precinct is located between the Wan Chai Basin along Hung Hing Road and the Hung Hing Road Flyover

Belcher Bay Promenade, Kennedy Town - Christmas Adventure of Nick the Robot at Elf Village


The popular character namely “Nick the Robot” uses his imagination to transform a time machine into a Christmas Explorers Train heading towards the Christmas Elf Village. Installations depicting the Elf Village feature an upcycled Christmas tree made up of recycled timbers and decorated with colourful lights, providing a green and fantastic Christmas experience for the public. There are three major recreational facilities, namely the "Joyful and Energetic Spinning Chairs", the "Colourful Christmas Tree Adventure Zone", and the "Racing Gears and Express Mine Carts", presenting a thrilling winter wonderland for all!

Location: Belcher Bay Promenade is located at Shing Sai Road, Kennedy Town
Transportation: A 6-minute walk towards the harbourfront from Exit C of Kennedy Town MTR Station.

Revitalised Typhoon Shelter Precinct, Causeway Bay - Merry Village • Happy CAN Year

At the heart of the "Merry Village" stands a 6-meter-high ‘CAN-Mas-Tree’ which is a Christmas tree decorated by over 10,000 upcycled beverage cans. Visitors can sit on the "CAN Dream Train” and take photos with the "CAN Bless Choir" formed by the "CAN Gems" Santa Claus, snowmen, and gingerbread men in a bid to discover the potential of upcycling.

Location: Typhoon Shelter Precinct is located between the Jardine Noonday Gun at Victoria Park Road and the Tung Lo Wan Fire Station
Transportation: A 7-minute walk from the World Trade Centre through the subway to the Jardine

East Coast Park Precinct, North Point - Gingerbread Man Christmas Train Station


The long-awaited Gingerbread Man welcomes the public to join the Christmas Snowy Party at the Gingerbread Men Station where a photogenic blue and white Christmas tree of approximately 12 meters high is featured. Three thematic zones, namely "Magical Moments", "Snowy Night Lights" and "Winter Trail", demonstrate different characteristics for the visitors to experience an unforgettable journey.

Location: East Coast Park Precinct is located to the west of Watson Road, Fortress Hill
Transportation: A 7-minute walk from Exit A of Fortress Hill MTR Station.
Lighting Hours: 5 pm - 11 pm (the lighting hours will be extended to 1 am on 23, 24, 25, 30 and 31 December)


Tsuen Wan Promenade - Din Dong’s Icy Wonderland at Harbourfront


Well-loved cartoon character "Din Dong" meets the public at the Tsuen Wan Promenade which is transformed into an "Icy Wonderland" for the public to spend quality Christmas time together. The dazzling 6.5-meter-high Din Dong Christmas tree stands in the middle of the park. Besides, visitors can have a blast by playing the "Christmas tree slide" and the "skating rink" where they can freely move the "ice blocks" around. Don't miss the chance to take photos with friends of Din Dong, including the "ice-skating Shiba Inu Wong Wo Wo", "Sockie Rabbit", and more! Visitors can also take funny shots in front of the Din Dong fridge and the Hong Kong-style ice-cream stall, capturing the fond memories of this Christmas season.

Cha Kwo Ling Promenade – The Pineapple Bun Girl Pinana's Christmas Dessert Factory

This Christmas, "Cafe de Bollo" and other adorable dessert-themed characters invite everyone to join the joyful Christmas party at the Cha Kwo Ling Promenade. The venue features various dessert-themed installations, including a 6-meter-high "Christmas Elf Parfait Tree", the "Donut Catwalk Show", the "Colourful Dessert Conveyor Belt", the "Chocolate Cookie Maker" and the "Pineapple Bun Cosy Oven", etc. Another highlight is the "Kaleidoscope Cake Factory" which is filled with an appealing collection of dessert graphic illustrations. Visitors can unleash their creativity and take colourful photos with the kaleidoscope setups and spend a wonderful day there.
